So stand die Wiege des SVS im oberen Wiesental, wo der Verband aus den Skiclubs Todtnau und Schwarzwald hervorging. Anfang des Jahres 1896 kamen die Sektionen St. Blasien und Lenzkirch hinzu. Es war der Beginn des organisierten Skisports in Deutschland und Mitteleuropa. Erst zehn Jahre sp\u00e4ter (1905) wurde der Deutsche Skiverband gegr\u00fcndet. Mit rund 65.000 organisierten Mitgliedern in sieben Bezirken nimmt der Skiverband Schwarzwald e.V. (SVS) in einer Statistik des Badischen Sportbund (BSB) den vierten Rang ein.
